Inter’s pursuit of Emerson Palmieri has received a thumbs up from new boss Simone Inzaghi, according to a leading Italian broadcaster.

Sky Sport Italia (via FcInter1908.it) said the Nerazzurri wanted to sort their options in the wing-back positions before chasing any other signings.

Emerson is the club’s first-choice target on the left-hand side and Inzaghi is also reportedly keen on a move for the Chelsea wing-back.

A report elsewhere in Italy today claimed Napoli could challenge Inter to sign the 26-year-old, who has already played under the Azzurri’s new boss Luciano Spalletti.

As far as the right wing-back spot is concerned, Inter could keep Matteo Darmian as their starting option for next season if they do not find another suitable replacement for Achraf Hakimi (who is probably heading to Paris Saint-Germain).

After that, the Nerazzurri’s priority will be to offer new and improved deals to Lautaro Martinez, Marcelo Brozovic and Nicolo Barella.

Inter are unlikely to need another big sale after Hakimi leaves, the report assured, so Inzaghi can begin planning properly for the 2021-22 campaign.
