Alexis Sanchez’s hopes of staying at Inter have not vanished yet, according to a report in the Italian media today.

FcInterNews.it said it was still possible that the Nerazzurri kept the Chilean forward, provided he agreed to a ‘robust’ wage cut.

Sanchez is due to earn €7 million annually for another two seasons and that is too much for Inter, who have encouraged his agent Fernando Felicevich to find the forward a new club.

The 33-year-old wants to stay at Inter though, so there could be room to renegotiate his contract with a pay cut – or he could spread the €14 million he is due across an extra season.

Nobody at Inter wants to get rid of Sanchez for sporting reasons, the report assured, and that includes Simone Inzaghi who would be happy to work with El Nino Maravilla.

At the moment there is no scenario that can be excluded for Sanchez, who scored seven goals in Serie A for the Nerazzurri last season.

Sanchez would be able to keep earning the same salary if he moved to MLS or clubs in the Middle East, but he wants to remain in a top league.

Sevilla were linked with a move for the former Manchester United forward, but they cannot afford his wages and that would appear to make a deal impossible.
