Pablo Bentancur, the agent of Inter-linked Cagliari midfielder Nahitan Nandez, has opened up about the desire of the 25-year-old about his future.

Speaking to the podcast “LUFC Fan Zone” as reported by Italian news outlet Tuttomercatoweb.com, the agent claimed that there are two major Serie A clubs targeting the Uruguayan, but that the player’s preference is for a move to the Premier League, citing Leeds United in particular.

Nandez has been linked to the Nerazzurri in recent weeks as a potential arrival with the club seeking midfield reinforcements for new coach Simone Inzaghi.

However, Bentancur’s words suggest that the club will face competition for the Uruguayan’s signature, and that they would not be the player’s first-choice destination.

Moreover, the agent states that Cagliari would cooperate in the process of finding a new club for the midfielder next season, suggesting that a move away is likely, although where he would go is still up for question with Leeds United evidently the desired destination over an Italian club.

Bentancur said this about Nandez’s situation:

“Our desire is to play in England, if it were to be Leeds United that would be best.”

On Cagliari’s situation with the player he said this:

“[Cagliari President Tommaso] Giulini and [Leeds owner Andrea] Radriazzini are very close friends and have already spoken. It is our desire that the deal be closed.”

“The Cagliari president promised the player that if he helped the club avoid relegation, he would help him move to a bigger club. There are two big clubs in Italy interested, but we believe the Premier League is our first solution.”
