Udinese sporting director has denied that Inter target Rodrigo De Paul is close to joining Atletico Madrid, claiming that there is still a significant distance to be reached.

Speaking to the radio program Kiss Kiss Napoli, Marino confirmed that the Friuli club are in talks with the Spanish club, but denied that the move is close.

The 27-year-old, who joined Udinese in 2016, is known to have been a target of the Nerazzurri in the past, and it is thought that the club could look to sign him this summer.

However, Atletico are thought to be strongly interested in the Argentine playmaker, and Inter could face difficulty in pursuing the player should their Spanish rivals move quickly to get a deal done with Udinese.

Marino’s words will give hope to the Nerazzurri that there is a window to sign De Paul, with negotiations between Udinese and Atletico still ongoing.

Of the negotiations Marino said the following:

“There are negotiations, and the ones with Atletico Madrid are the most advanced, but the distances are still considerable.”

“Other clubs remain with an interest in the player, there are many clubs who want him. The negotiations have not yet taken off.”
