Inter are set to make the departures of fringe squad players on high wages a priority in the summer transfer window, and negotiations for the exit of Belgian midfielder Radja Nainggolan are on the agenda.

Today’s print edition of Rome-based newspaper Corriere dello Sport highlight Nainggolan’s situation, a player who the club could let depart on a free transfer to Cagliari.

The 33-year-old spent the second half of last season on loan with the Rossoblu, where he was a key player in the club’s push to avoid relegation under manager Leonardo Semplici.

It is thought that the Belgian wants a stay in Sardinia and the club are keen on keeping him.

However, there is no economic agreement for the player’s sale, and it is thought that his departure would likely come at not cost, with the Nerazzurri willing to let him go without demanding a fee.

It is thought that at the moment a potential issue could stand in the way of a deal, with the Belgian wanting a severance package and the Nerazzurri not wishing to grant him one.

However, the club could look to work out a deal where the incentive is paid out over several years in order to make sure the move happens.
