New Inter goalkeeper Alex Cordaz has said farewell to his previous club Crotone, explaining that he still loves his former club but feels proud to start his new adventure in Milan as well.

Speaking alongside Crotone President Gianni Vrenna to local press, as reported by FCInterNews, the 38-year-old opened up about his conflicting emotions as he leaves the Calabrian club to Join the Nerazzurri.

Cordaz’s signing for Inter was announced today, with the goalkeeper returning to the club that he departed in 2006 after having played for the Primavera side but left in search of regular football.

The player feels that he is close to the end of his career, but wanted to end it in a special way and is happy with a return to his boyhood club, which he still feels affection for.

However, he also experiences regret at leaving Crotone, a club at which made over two hundred appearances and departs as club captain.

“The president made the decision, not me. I sat in the office and said, ‘What do we do?’ He did it for me. There are stages in life. I’m 38 and this is the most prestigious way to say goodbye,” he said of his departure.

On what he wants from his time with the Nerazzurri, Cordaz felt it was an opportunity to develop further.

“It can make my experience grow, improve in certain aspects. Staying too long in the same place deprives you of opportunities for knowledge. I am going to improve my understanding with respect to what I will do in the future.”

Finally, Cordaz spoke about what the transfer to Inter means to him and to the club.

“It’s a source of pride for me and also for Crotone. A way to give prestige to the Rossoblu course. Returning to Inter is a dream but at the moment it is a mixture of sadness and happiness.

“It is all special. The call from the Nerazzurri club came suddenly, an idea born suddenly by the Inter managers, in one afternoon and then the choice was made by the president.”
