Inter face competition for the signature of Chelsea wing-back Emerson Palmieri in the form of Luciano Spalletti’s Napoli, according to reports.

This from Italian news outlet Calciomercato.com, who report that Emerson is a top target for the new Napoli boss, who hopes to sign the Chelsea man ahead of the Nerazzurri.

Adding a left-sided player to Simone Inzaghi’s squad is thought to be a priority for Inter in the summer transfer market, and Emerson is one of the names who has frequently come up as an option for the club.

However, it now appears that Napoli are serious about the player, who Spalletti has worked with before at Roma and is an admirer of, and could step up their pursuit soon.

The Partenopei have also been linked with a possible move for Benfica left-back Nuno Tavares during the window, but this appears far away and Spalletti prefers Emerson.

Whether either club will make an attempt to achieve progress on the player’s signing quickly remains to be seen.
