Inter midfielder Lucien Agoume has yet to extend his contract with the Nerazzurri, currently set to expire next summer, but an extension is being worked towards.

This according to agent Oscar Damiani, speaking to Italian broadcaster Sky Sport Italia, who claimed that there is still more work to be done between the club and the player and his entourage.

The 19-year-old midfielder spent last season on loan with newly-promoted Serie A side Spezia where he was not a regular starter but nevertheless got his first taste of top flight football in Italy, and impressed at times.

The player’s contract is set to expire next summer, but the Nerazzurri are hoping to extend his deal with the club to 2024.

Damiani has been a participant in talks for the extension of the Frenchman’s contract, with the Italian having been involved in talks about a renewal two weeks ago as an intermediary, but he stresses that the player and his agent are ultimately the ones who will determine whether or not they accept an extension.

Damiani said the following about the situation:

“Will Agoume renew with Inter? We have to ask [Djibril] Niang, his agent. We talked about it, we have to see, but for now there is nothing. He only has a one-year contract. Let’s try to find an extension.”
