Inter are in talks with Lautaro Martinez over a contract extension for the Argentine, but coming to an agreement could be complicated.

This according to Italian news outlet Calciomercato.com, who report that the recent change of agent by the player could be a key factor in determining the outcome of negotiations.

As it stands, the 23-year-old’s contract takes him to June 30 2023, but the club are hoping to extend it beyond that date as they look to secure the striker at the Giuseppe Meazza.

It is thought that for the moment the Nerazzurri are unwilling to go as high as the player and his agent are asking on personal terms for a new deal, and that for the time being negotiations are at a standstill.

The player’s switch to Alejandro Camano as an agent is also thought to have been a move which has made progress on a new deal difficult, with the club and player essentially having to start discussions anew.

There is interest in Martinez from several clubs, with Atletico Madrid thought to be keenly tracking the player, though for now there is no certainty about his decision or his future and Inter continue talks in the hope of keeping him at the Giuseppe Meazza.
