Inter are considering a move for out-of-contract Crystal Palace left-back Patrick Van Aanholt as an alternative to other targets on the left side of the pitch.

This according to today’s print edition of Rome-based newspaper Corriere dello Sport, who report that the Dutchman would arrive for free should he join the Nerazzurri.

Inter are thought to have made the left side of the squad a priority in the summer transfer, with Ashley Young having departed for Aston Villa and Ivan Perisic another player who could be sold.

Chelsea’s Marcos Alonso is thought to be a top target in the role, with Emerson Palmieri another Blues player who Inter like, but bringing a player in from Stamford Bridge could prove complicated with Chelsea potentially difficult to deal with after missing out on Inter’s Achraf Hakimi to rivals Paris Saint-Germain.

With the club looking to other options who can fill the left-sided role in Simone Inzaghi’s role, their attention has turned to Van Aanholt, and they are seriously considering pursuing a deal to bring the out-of-contract Dutchman in this summer.
