Inter could sign Chelsea left-back Emerson Palmieri next season, with the Nerazzurri currently thought to be leading the race to sign the 26-year-old ahead of Napoli.

The player has spoken about his desire to leave London for more playing time, and Inter are currently the most viable destination for him should he leave, according to today’s print edition of Turin-based newspaper Tuttosport.

The Nerazzurri have made a left-sided player for Simone Inzaghi’s squad a priority in the summer transfer window, and Emerson is a name who has been persistently linked with a move to the Giuseppe Meazza.

It is thought that Chelsea could unilaterally extend the player’s contract by one year in order to improve their bargaining position in negotiations for the Italian’s sale, and would demand approximately €15 million for his signature, but the player’s public desire to leave could be a significant factor.

It is expected that the likeliest destination for the player would be a return to Serie A, having arrived at Stamford Bridge from Roma in 2018.

Napoli are thought to have a keen interest in the player, but it is thought that Inter have a key advantage over the Partenopei in competing for his signature, with the Nerazzurri able to pay the €3.5 million salary which the player currently earns at Chelsea.
