Lazio striker Ciro Immobile has given his thoughts on the effect of having Inter’s Romelu Lukaku as a competitor in Serie A.
Speaking in an official press conference as reported by FCInterNews, the Italian praised Lukaku’s qualities and explained how he has become familiar with the Belgian’s qualities through watching and playing against him in Italy.
Immobile will hope to start for Italy as the Azzurri take on Belgium in a EURO 2020 semifinal clash on Friday, with the question of whether Lukaku can score against the nation in which he has played since 2019 a key to determining the outcome of the knockout encounter.
Immobile was Capocannoniere for Serie A two seasons ago, and is one of the most consistent goalscorers in the Italian top flight at the moment, but Lukaku has joined his ranks as one of the elite strikers in the competition, and the Nerazzurri Scudetto winner could hope to cement his reputation with Belgium at the Euros.
Immobile’s words: “[Lukaku] is very strong. We are lucky to have him in Serie A, and know him well. He will give our defenders a good battle.”
