Benfica are monitoring the situation of Inter wing0back Valentino Lazaro, but the Portuguese giants consider him a Plan B option with Sevilla’s Aleix Vidal their first-choice priority on the right.

This according to today’s print edition of Porto-based newspaper O Jogo, which reports that the two clubs with the strongest interest in signing the Austria at the moment are Newcastle United and Borussia Monchengladbach.

Lazaro has failed to cement a starting spot at the Nerazzurri since arriving from Hertha Berlin in the summer of 2019, having spent the second half of his first season on loan with Newcastle United before returning to the Bundesliga to spend last season on loan with Borussia Monchengladbach.

The two clubs to whom he has been loaned out since joining Inter appear to be the favourites for the player’s signature as it stands, with both clubs targeting him.

Benfica are also interested, but would likely only move for him if they are unable to sign Sevilla’s Vidal.

Earlier today it was announced that Valentino Lazaro has tested positive for COVID-19 and is self-isolating currently until further notice.
