Legendary former Inter midfielder Nicola Berti has given his thoughts on his time with the Nerazzurri.

Writing in the preface to the book “Educazione Ambrosiana: le 11 partite che hanno cambiato la vita di noi interisti” (“Ambrosian Education: Eleven Games That Changed The Lives of Inter Fans”) the former midfielder reminisces on his time with the Nerazzurri and talks about the connection he feels to the club.

Berti played for the Nerazzurri betwen 1988 and 1998, making 229 Serie A appearances and winning several trophies with the club including Serie A in his first season and two UEFA Cup titles.

Berti views his time with the club in a philosophical light, and considers his connection to Inter to be deep and profound.

In the floridly-written passage, the former midfielder talks about how a former nickname given to him during his time at the Nerazzurri reflects a fundamental attitude towards the game, and emphasizes that Inter are a club which he felt deeply a part of rather than just having played for them.

His words:

“Inter is in my destiny, it has always been. They called me many names during my career, but perhaps my favourite was Crazy Horse. I’ve always understood it in the Anglo-Saxon style: ‘dark horse,’ the English say and they mean someone indomitable.”
