Cagliari midfielder Nahitan Nandez has apologised to his teammates and fans after refusing to travel for the club’s friendly in Mallorca recently, according to a report in the Italian media today.

As has been reported by La Gazzetta dello Sport, the player was left out of the squad for Cagliari’s upcoming Coppa Italia match at home to Pisa so he is now training by himself at the Sardinian club’s base.

The reason for the fallout is that his seemingly imminent move to Inter has now been put on ice after negotiations dragged on and Inter signed Denzel Dumfries from PSV Eindhoven to replace Achraf Hakimi who left for Paris Saint Germain.

The negotiations stalled between Inter and Cagliari because of a disagreement over the loan fee. Inter wanted to pay €3 million for the one year loan but Cagliari wanted to receive €5 million.

Inter may still look to resurrect the move for midfield cover.g
