Former Juventus defender Sergio Porrini believes that Inter have brought in the right players during the summer transfer window to make for a successful transition to the football of new coach Simone Inzaghi.

Speaking to Italian news outlet TuttoJuve, the 52-year-old gave his view that Inter and Napoli are currently the two favourites for the Scudetto and that the Nerazzurri in particular look to be a coherently assembled team.

Inter endured a summer of upheaval, with a difficult transfer window seeing the departures of Antonio Conte, Achraf Hakimi, and Romelu Lukaku and the long health-related absence of Christian Eriksen with limited funds to replace they key men from last season’s Scudetto triumph.

However, former Lazio boss Simone Inzaghiwas brought in to replace Conte as manager, while a host of new signings were brought in, with the likes of Hakan Calhanoglu, Denzel Dumfries, Edin Dzeko, and Joaquin Correa arriving to reinforce the squad available to Inzaghi.

So far, all four new players have shown that they can quickly adapt to the Italian tactician’s ideas and hit the ground running, contributing to a strong start to life at Inter for the coach.

Of the title race, Porrini stated that “For me it’s balanced out a lot from last seaosn, precisely because there were so many coaching changes and each of them tries to bring their own philosophy and style of play.”

Of the Nerazzurri he said, “Inter have also changed on the pitch, with the losses of Hakimi and Lukaku, while smart signings have arrived for Inzaghi’s game. From what we are seeing today, the Nerazzurri and Napoli have something more and I see them ahead of the others.”
