Legendary former Fiorentina, Bayern Munich, and Hellas Verona striker Luca Toni believes that Napoli’s Victor Osimhen is the top individual striker in Serie A right now but that Inter have a stronger overall attack than the Partenopei.

Speaking to Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport in an interview published in today’s print edition, the 44-year-old gave his views on the attacking talent currently in the Italian top flight and suggested that the Nerazzuri’s strength comes in the depth and versatility of their attacking talent.

In Romelu Lukaku, Inter lost one of the most impactful strikers in Europe, with the Belgian having led Serie A for combined goals and assists last season before his summer movie to Chelsea.

The Nerazzurri could not have found a player who directly replaces all of the Belgian’s qualities, but they did manage to bolster their attack with other kinds of reinforcements, and are now seeing the benefits with the strong early season form of Edin Dzkeo and Lautaro Martinez.

“If Osimhen is fit and working with Spalletti he can improve and become a big player, Immobile is a certainty, I would like Vlahovic to prove himself. In the league, then, there are teams on similar levels, Inter also started well, Lautaro can have a great season, Dzeko started strong.”

“Dzeko is a great striker,” he went on of the Nerazzurri man, “in addition to scoring goals he plays well for the team. He links the game between midfield and attack a lot, the only flaw is that he is not always precise in front goal.”

On the best attack in Serie A he said, “Inter, with Dzeko-Lautaro have a very strong attacking duo. Napoli don’t have many back-ups.”

And on which players would lead the line in his ideal Serie A eleven, he stated, “Osimhen in the centre, and on the outside someone who scores alongside the striker as I enjoyed, maybe Insigne. But I also like Abraham because he breaks down defenses.”
