Inter midfielder Stefano Sensi is close to making a return from a knee injury that kept him out of the Nerazzurri’s last several matches, and is likely to be used as a forward by coach Simone Inzaghi.

This according to today’s print edition of Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, who report that the 25-year-old is not likely to be fit to start against Lazio on the weekend but could be on the bench.

Sensi has been dealing with a knee injury which he picked up against Sampdoria a few weeks ago, but his recovery has gone according to plan and he is in training with the rest of the squad now.

Once he is back, Inzaghi intends to use him in a similar role to the one that he played against Genoa on the openeing day of the season, where he was used as a Number Ten behind lone striker Edin Dzeko.

The coach would likely rely on him in a similar role on Saturday against the Biancocelesti were he fit to start given the issues with the availability of his South American attacking players, but he could still appear in this capcity from the bench.
