Inter recovered from last weekend’s VAR farce to record back to back wins over Empoli and Udinese.

Two 2-0 victories keep them on the coattails of early pace setters Napoli and Milan and builds up a steady bit of momentum as they hit a key time in the season.

Here’s what we took from this week’s victories.

1)  Be Patient With Joaquin Correa

Joaquin Correa was largely anonymous on Sunday afternoon at San Siro until the hour mark.

A slow ponderous and tepid performance soon became match winning as he hammered home a brace to secure Inter the points.

Let us remember that this man has joined a new side, one that is better than where he was at before, and has also had to deal with fitness issues.

Four goals so far across seven appearances is a solid return and if he can learn to influence games more consistently across the 90, he will be a formidable force for Inter this term.

2) Stefano Sensi Is The Answer

Stefano Sensi is back fit, for now.

A big conundrum could well be solved if that state of fitness can be sustained and Sensi can stay available for selection.

Since his arrival in Milan and his early flurry of form, Sensi’s role in the Nerazzuri lineup has been most effective when carried out by the man himself.

Christian Eriksen struggled to carry out the role in a similar way in which Hakan Calhanoglu is currently floundering.

In this squad and this system, Sensi is the best link up player between midfield and attack to partner Barella and Brozovic.

If he can take his opportunity and stay fit he will fly. If the injuries continue, he may find himself up for sale however.

3) Andrea Ranocchia Proving A Vital Squad Member

Key in the dressing room and also a worthwhile deputy, Andrea Ranocchia might now have finally found his niche at Inter.

After taking countless knocks during the ‘banter’ years, the former Bari defender appears to be ageing like fine wine in this Inter squad which is great to see.

Seeing a spine consisting of Handanovic, Ranocchia and Brozovic on Sunday brought back some nostalgia to Inter’s squad and it also proved a stark reminder of just how far Inter have come in the last four years.

Ranocchia is carrying out his duties as a versatile veteran with true aplomb.

4) Ivan Perisic Is A Man Inspired

With talk of the Croat leaving at the end of the season, now seems a good time to analyse his Inter career.

Many fans will agree that Perisic has often failed to kick on and be as consistent for club and he is for country.

Even more fans will agree that Perisic is playing as well for Inter currently as he has at any point during his six seasons in an Inter shirt.

After returning from a top season on loan with Bayern, Perisic struggled to adapt to the wing-back role initially under Conte but seems to now have completely mastered it.

Effective in both attack and defence and capable of playing a new role at 32, Inter may miss his capabilities should he move on next summer.

5) November Is Truly Season Defining

Two victories this week were vital and absolutely a necessity.

Sheriff in midweek is must win, Inter then head into back to back games in the league against Milan and Napoli before a crunch game against Shakhtar which could make or break their quest for the knockout stages.

Maximum points from all of these games is a giant ask. If it can be pulled off, Inter could well be looking a good bet for the knockout stages of the Champions League for the first time in nearly a decade and also in the driving seat for mounting a Scudetto challenge.

All this after a tough summer and under new management.

As mentioned it will be hugely tough but it cannot be underestimated how vital this period is for Inter’s season.

Success means that the Inzaghi project can start to gain momentum, however defeats in the league would make a Scudetto tilt much harder to achieve and failure to pass the group again in the Champions League would be damning.
