Inter striker Edin Dzeko and midfielder Nicolo Barella each picked up a muscle injury during this evening’s Milan derby against AC Milan.

This according to Italian news outlet FCInter1908, who report that the pair suffered muscle fatigue and will both have their conditions evaluated ahead of the upcoming international break.

Barella and Dzeko each started the match as expected, but both came off during the second half, with the former being substituted midway through the second half when it was clear that he was not feeling right to continue, and the latter pulling up with a strain in his leg after a lengthy run and signalling to the bench to be substituted immediately.

Both players are regular starters for their respective national teams, and it remains to be seen if they will go on international duty during the break or if they will take the time to recover, and if so how long it will be until they return to fitness.
