Former Arsenal striker Kevin Campbell believes that current Tottenham Hotspur manager Antonio Conte will look to sign Stefan de Vrij from his old club Inter.

Speaking to UK news outlet Football Insider, the 51-year-old gave the view that the Italian tactician will want to make the Dutch centre-back a major target and that he will likely waste little time in bringing him to North London.

Conte joined Spurs as head coach last week, with the 52-year-old having decided that it was time to take on a new challenge after he had left Inter at the start of the summer not long after guiding the club to their first Scudetto in eleven years.

The former Nerazzurri boss is likely to want to improve his new team’s squad with signings, and could look to bring some of his trusted players from Inter to the Premier League.

Campbell identified de Vrij in particular as a player who he would be keen to bring in and gave the view that the 29-year-old will likely make the switch soon.

“If De Vrij is the one Conte’s wants,” he stated, “Spurs will go and get him. Conte is very ruthless like that. I’m sure we’ll see him in a Spurs shirt soon.”
