Inter defender Milan Skriniar feels that his team lost two points rather than picking up a point when they drew 1-1 against AC Milan in the derby.

Speaking to InterTV after the match, the Slovak gave the view that the team had played well enough to earn a much-needed win but that they were unable to get the result they wanted, while also expressing that he feels that they showed that they are a difficult team to play against.

Inter took the lead early on through a Hakan Calhanoglu which was quickly cancelled out by a Stefan de Vrij own goal from a set piece, but after that neither side were able to find the back of the net again.

Lautaro Martinez missed a penalty for the Nerazzurri, and there were other chances to take all three points that came about from the positive play shown by the Nerazzurri throughout the match, but in the end they were not able to find the breakthrough.

“For sure it was a tough match and we knew it,” Skriniar stated. “For me, however, these are two points lost because we created much more than the opponent but we were unable to take advantage of the opportunities.”

“We said to ourselves, after the match, that we showed our strength,” he continued. “We are united, balanced and compact. We are a tough opponent for anyone and this is the message to everyone.”

On what the team is missing he stated, “A bit of cutting edge in front of goal because we create a lot but then we weren’t able to put it in, we need to work on this. Even today we had a great match and certainly there is work to be done on this aspect.”

“Now we are not resting because we will play during the break,” he finished. “But when we return we will immediately start working towards Napoli, another really important match.”
