Inter will have another fitness worry as three of their key players have been called up to their national teams over the break despite injury problems, in the form of Edin Dzeko, Nicolo Barella, and Alessandro Bastoni.

This according to today’s print edition of Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, who report that the trio will respond to the call-ups from the Bosnian and Italian national teams respectively.

Dzeko pulled up with a muscle problem after a sprint during the second half of yesterday’s Milan derby and immediately signalled to the bench that he needed to be substituted.

Meanwhile, Barella and Bastoni both came off during the second half as well, as precautionary measures after they indicated to the coach that they did not feel right to continue.

All three are important players in their national team setups, however, and will be in the squads for the upcoming World Cup qualifiers during the break, though it remains to be seen how much time on the pitch they will be given.

The participation of these players in the international fixtures is another potential headache for Inter, however, who will also be dealing with the late returns of South American players for the the third international window in a row.
