Italian journalist Franco Ordine believes that Inter were the side who imposed their game upon the derby against AC Milan yesterday evening despite not getting three points from the match.

Speaking to Italian broadcaster SportMediaset, Ordine praised the Nerazzurri’s performance in a derby that was fast-paced and full of quality, and suggested that Simone Inzaghi’s team had expressed themselves more effectively than their opposition.

Inter played with much of the possession against their city rivals, especially through the second half of the derby, and they were able to patiently carve out chances to win the match.

However, the clinical edge that was needed to win the match was lacking, and they had to settle for sharing the points in a match which saw the Rossoneri maintain their seven-point lead over the Nerazzurri despite a head-to-head match in which the gap in quality between the two did not appear to be there.

“I liked this derby very much,” Ordine said. “Objectively, Inter were in control more than Milan. The Rossoneri, despite not having too much fuel, were consistently under pressure. It is synonymous with great spirit.”

Of Hakan Calhanoglu’s first derby against his former side he stated that “If players are not even able to receive the whistles and want to play in a church, they have the wrong job. I have never seen such a gesture by the players of Riccardo Ferri’s generation.”

And of striker Lautaro Martinez Ordine stated that “His performance is far below the usual standard.”
