Inter midfielder Nicolo Barella will have his physical condition evaluated ahead of the international break after he left the pitch with a muscle problem in the derby against AC Milan yesterday evening.

This according to Italian national team manager Roberto Mancini, who confirmed in a press conference, as reported by FCInter1908, that the 24-year-old would undergo tests to see how serious his issue is if at all.

Barella was substituted midway through the second half of yesterday evening’s derby, with the midfielder having indicated to the bench that he did not feel right to continue.

The Nerazzurri will hope that the problem is nothing serious and that the substitution was only a precautionary measure, and it remains to be seen whether the muscular problem will rule him out of participation with the national team over the break, as well as whether the midfielder’s place in the squad could be compromised for the fixtures after the break.

Mancini stated that “We evaluate Barella, it does not seem to be anything to worry about but we will evaluate in him the next few days.”
