Inter failed to win yesterday evening’s Milan derby against AC Milan because they were unable to rely on the best performances of their main strikers Lautaro Martinez and Edin Dzeko according to Italian media.

The pair are criticized for their displays in the match in today’s print edition of Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, who suggest that neither of the two attackers were at their best in the match.

Inter played well for long spells as they looked to reduce the gap on their city rivals, creating a number of presentable chances to score a winner throughout the match.

However, the two players up front were far from clinical during the match, and this was enough to prevent them from taking all three points from the match.

Manager Simone Inzaghi may be prompted into a re-think of his attack with more important matches on the way, given that Martinez looks to be badly out of form at the moment and Dzeko came off with a muscle injury in the second half.
