Legendary former AC Milan coach Arrigo Sacchi believes that Inter are starting to find their identity but that they have yet to show the conviction that his former side the Rossoneri have this season.

Speaking to Italian broadcaster SportMediaset, the former coach gave the view that the Nerazzurri are starting to pick up momentum and get better, but that they have yet to show the bravery on the pitch that their city rivals do.

Inter have now started to show their identity under coach Simone Inzaghi, who has had months to work with the squad and has imposed his vision of the game on the squad.

The players showed in Sunday evening’s derby that they can play with a clear organization in possession and at a high tempo, even though they did not manage to find a winning goal for their efforts.

However, Sacchi believes that the Nerazzurri have not yet gotten to the level that the Rossoneri are as a team.

Of the derby he stated that “It was a good match where AC Milan started better, in the first half they dictated the game. Their individual quality is better than Inter, especially because Milan are young guys.”

“In the second half Milan tired and Inter could have scored goals,” he went on, “then the substitutions were right and in the last fifteen minutes Milan made life difficult for Inter.”

“It was a game opened mainly by Milan,” the former coach continued, “Inter are improving but always play more cautious football, less courageous than Milan, more Italian. The central defenders of Inter in the first half did not link up much and therefore you play outnumbered and that’s what happens to Italian teams when they play abroad.”
