Former Inter defender Andreas Brehme would consider working with the club in some capacity in the future if an offer is to come his way.

Speaking to Italian podcast Radio Nerazzurra, as reported via FCInterNews, the German spoke about his continued relationship with the Nerazzurri as well as giving his thoughts on the current side and predicting a three-way Scudetto race with AC Milan and Napoli.

Brehme spent four seasons with the Nerazzurri, with the highlight of his time at the club being helping the club to the 1988-89 Scudetto.

The former defender still roots for his team and follows them, while his memories of and appreciation for the club remain extremely positive.

He spoke about the quality of Serie A while he was playing in the league, and the iconic players who had been in the league and who made the triumph he experienced with the Nerazzurri even more special.

He reflected that “It’s always beautiful when you win, the record breaking Scudetto win was truly exceptional.”

On his memory of joining the club he explained that “Inter hadn’t won the Scudetto for nine or ten years, at that time Italian football was the strongest, like German football.

“When the offer from Inter arrived, I didn’t hesitate and I immediately said: ‘I’ll go.'”

On the best opponents he remembers with Inter, Brehme stated that “There were so many. Napoli with Careca and Maradona, the three Dutchmen at AC Milan and many other players. It was really a great league, fantastic.”

Of club and international teammate Lothar Matthaus he said, “Lothar asked me if I had already signed for Sampdoria and I said: ‘No, not yet, but I think I’ll do it tomorrow.'”

“So he told me to wait a bit, then Inter called me,” he continued.

“Two days later they all arrived at my house and I immediately signed the contract.”

Of his coach at Inter Giovanni Trappatoni, Brehme stated that “He is a friend and he is also a great coach, one of the best in the world.

“He’s also a great person. He has won many titles with Juve, Benfica, Bayern and Inter. He is wonderful.”

“Yesterday I spoke with Riccardo Ferri,” he stated of another former teammate.

“Normally I also speak regularly with Bergomi and with many others, even with Ernesto Pellegrini. We will always have a very good relationship.”

Asked whether he’d consider a role at the Nerazzurri in the future he said, “Sure, always. Always.”

On whether he feels that Inter and AC Milan could return to the levels they had been at when he played for the club Breheme stated that “Yes, I think so. Milan play really good football, they are a young team.”

He continued that “Inter have a good team as well, let’s see who wins the Scudetto. In my opinion it will be a struggle between three clubs: the two Milan clubs and Napoli.”
