AC Milan head coach Stefano Pioli believes that the derby between his team and Inter on Sunday was a top-quality encounter and that the Nerazzurri showed that they are a very formidable side.

Speaking in a press conference, as reported by FCInterNews, the Italian tactician gave the view that the derby had been evenly balanced and that both teams played at a high level throughout.

Inter were unable to take three points and cut the gap between themselves and their city rivals in Sunday’s match, with each side scoring early on in the match but neither able to find the telling goal to win the clash.

This was not for lack of trying, however, with the Nerazzurri in particular having created a number of good chances which they squandered, while the Rossoneri missed the chance to win it late when Alexis Saelemaekers hit the post.

Pioli felt that it was a positive match overall, stating that “It was a beautiful derby, full of emotion and battles. The teams played with great conviction and confidence.”

“Inter are a very strong team and they showed it on Sunday,” he stated, “but we have grown a lot as well.”
