Legendary former Udinese forward Antonio Di Natale believes that Sassuolo’s Giacomo Raspadori has the potential to be a great signing for Inter, but that the best place for him for now is at his current club.

Speaking to Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport in an interview published in today’s print edition, Di Natale gave the view that Raspadori should continue to develop at the Neroverdi at least until the end of the season.

Raspadori is known to be a long-term target for Inter, and the club could look to sign him in one of the upcoming transfer windows in order to make sure that they secure his arrival.

Reports have emerged that the 21-year-old is not happy at his current club and that he could join Inter as soon as January.

However, Di Natale believes that while the young striker could be a valuable addition for the Nerazzurri in the near future, he is not quite ready for this point and would be better off continuing his development in Emilia-Romagna.

“I would suggest finishing the year at Sassuolo and then moving to a top team with more experience,” he stated.

He went on that “It is one thing to play and grow at Sassuolo, and quite another to show up at San Siro, represent the Inter shirt at a club who are fighting for the Scudetto – surely there would be less playing time, especially as a starter.”

“At least in the immediate future,” Di Natale continued, “I am convinced that the best course would be another year at Sassuolo – at Inter he could show off by coming into a season already in progress, but that would be different.”

On the young striker’s qualities he stated that “Raspadori has the right profile for a top team – he’s a smart guy, who can find the back of the goal and knows how to play in multiple positions.”

“He’s a player like Sanchez,” Di Natale went on, “he can play as a first or second striker and has the perfect characteristics to play alongside Lautaro or Dzeko, but also with Correa or Sanchez.”
