Former Inter and AC Milan defender Fulvio Collovati believes that the draw between the Nerazzurri and the Rossoneri in Sunday’s Milan derby was a fair reflection of the two teams’ performances.

Speaking to Milan-based newspaper Il Girono in an interview published in yesterday’s print edition, the former defender gave his thoughts on the match and also praised the squad depth available to the Nerazzurri.

Inter and Milan both played their game at a high tempo throughout Sunday’s derby, and while the Nerazzurri in particular rue their missed chances both teams had good periods.

Inter’s biggest regret will be a penalty by Lautaro Martinez which was saved by Rossoneri goalkeeper Ciprian Tarusanu, while their city rivals could look back on Alexis Saelemaekers’s late effort which struck the post as a moment when they could have gotten all three points.

However, on the balance of play Collovati feels that sharing the points is the right result, stating that “There were chances right up to the end. A good match but I think that in the end the draw is a fair result.”

He also praised the squad assembled by Inter, stating that “Simone Inzaghi has a complete team in every position.”

“On Sunday evening, three of the five players who came on were Correa, Sanchez and Vidal,” he said. “Nobody else has a wealth of options from the bench like this.”
