Former Udinese, Bologna, and Swansea City coach Franesco Guidolin believes that there is still plenty of time for Inter to get back into the Scudetto race.

Speaking to Italian broadcaster Radio 24, he emphasized that despite the seven-point margin between the Nerazzurri and the top of the table, there will be many chances for them to close the gap and defend their crown.

The derby draw against AC Milan on Sunday will have been a bitter pill for Inter to swallow, as they had the chance to reduce the gap on their city rivals to four points had they been able to make more of their chances and win.

Moreover, Napoli’s draw against Hellas Verona earlier in the day meant that they could have also cut the deficit to five points on the Partenopei.

Inter’s first match back from the international break is at home against the Partenopei, and they will see this as yet another chance to drag themselves back into contention, but even beyond this they can look at a long race ahead.

“Inter have the opportunity to get back into the  title race,” Guidolin said, “at seven points the possibility is definitely there. Those further back will struggle, first of all Juventus. Two thirds of the leagues is yet to be played and the results will not be the result of chance but of the quality on the pitch.”
