Inter Vice-President and legendary former player Javier Zanetti finds his role as a club director to be even more demanding than when he was a player with the club.

Speaking to Italian broadcaster R101, the Argentine spoke about the tiring nature of his current role and compared it to his time on the pitch.

Zanetti made 858 appearances for the Nerazzurri in all competitions, a massive body of work that speaks to his stamina and work ethic while he captained the club through multiple eras.

The 48-year-old was renowned for the ground that he would cover in matches as he looked to help his team on both sides of the ball, something that never really let up throughout nearly two decades in an Inter shirt.

However, Zanetti finds that in its way, his role as Vice-President at the club is more tiring even than his career on the pitch ever was.

“It is more tiring to be a director than a footballer,” he reflected, “when I was on the pitch I was able to take in adrenaline. Here there are other components to which one must adapt. I always try to train and keep fit.”

And on the Nerazzurri supporters, he stated that “I thank everyone who always shows me great affection: since I arrived when I was very young, this bond I have with Inter fans has always been very strong.”
