Shakhtar Donetsk head coach Roberto De Zerbi wants to see his team fight for a win when they travel to the San Siro in the Champions League after the international break.

Speaking to Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport in an interview published in today’s print edition, the Italian tactician emphasized that he still feels that his team can fight for the third spot in the group and will be motivated when they take on the Nerazurri for the second time this season.

Inter’s fortunes in their Champions League group have improved since their goalless draw in Ukraine, with two vital wins against Sheriff Tiraspol enough to take them to second spot in the group on seven points.

Shakhtar, meanwhile, lost twice to group leaders Real Madrid, and the Ukrainian side have only one point after four matches making progression to the knockout rounds virtually impossible.

However, De Zerbi still feels that everything is there to play for, and wants to try and get a win at the San Siro so that his team can fight for third place in the group when they face Sheriff on the last matchday.

“Now I’m focused on the Milan match,” he stated. “Against Inter we will do everything to win and keep the hope of finishing third alive.”
