Duvan Zapata had been reported as a target for Inter during the summer transfer window, but now he is happy at his current club Atalanta.

This according to Atalanta CEO Umberto Marino, who stated to Bergamo-based newspaper L’Eco di Bergamo that the Colombian is now happy to be in good form with La Dei.

Inter had looked into a number of targets as they searched for a replacement for Romelu Lukaku following the Belgian’s shock sale to Chelsea in August.

In the end, the Nerazzurri settled on Edin Dzeko and Joaquin Correa to reinforce their attack, but Zapata had been reported to be one of the priority targets as well.

The Colombian had picked up an injury which may have been a deciding factor in the Nerazzurri moving on to other targets, while La Dei had also been very firm in their asking price, but at any rate the player stayed in Bergamo where he continues to score prolifically.

Asked about whether a deal had been close, Marino stated that “I know absolutely nothing about that, you would have to ask Luca Percassi and Giovanni Sartori. Now he is having a great season here.”
