Inter are set to begin talks soon on the contract extension of midfielder Marcelo Brozovic, with a meeting to take place shortly with his father and agent.

This according to Italian journalist Niccolo Ceccarini, who wrote about the situation in his column for Italian news outlet TuttoMercatoWeb and reported that the Nerazzurri are aiming to have the situation resolved by the end of the year.

Negotiations have yet to really take off on extending the 28-year-old’s deal, which is set to expire at the end of June 2022.

Finding an agreement on a renewal is the priority for the club, but should they be unable to do so then they will want to confirm this in a timely manner so that plans can be made for the future.

Talks should begin very shortly, and the Croat’s future at the club should become clearer as they progress.

Ceccarini gives the update that “Work on renewals continues at Inter. After those of Lautaro Martinez and Barella, Marotta and Ausilio, the next big round of talks on the agenda concerns Marcelo Brozovic.”

“The Croatian midfielder is the real engine of the team, fundamental to how Inter play,” he goes on. “They have no intention of losing him.”

“For this reason the Nerazzurri managers are planning a meeting shortly with his father and agent to find a solution, possibly before Christmas,” the journalist adds.

“Paris Saint Germain and Atletico Madrid have been on his trail for some time,” he concludes. “It is clear that if there is no positive response, Inter will have to start looking around for a replacement.”
