Legendary former Inter President Massimo Moratti has lent his support to the “Yes to Preserve the Meazza” movement aimed at preventing the demolition of the San Siro in Milan.

This according to Italian football finance news outlet Calcio e Finanza, who report that the former Nerazzurri President has officially joined the movement against tearing down the existing San Siro as Inter and AC Milan seek to build a new stadium in the city.

Moratti has already voiced his reservations about demolishing the San Siro in order to construct the new stadium, and now he has officially joined the movement aimed at stopping it.

The “Yes to Preserve Meazza” movement is starting to take shape as a number of public figures give their support to the cause, and Moratti’s is now one of the most prominent voices.

Among the concerns of the group are the potential environmental impact of the construction of the new stadium and the historical and cultural ramifications of tearing down the iconic San Siro.

The aim of the “Yes to Preserve Meazza” movement at this stage centres around petitioning to hold a public referendum on demolishing the San Siro, as well as on wider public debate on the issue.
