Inter defender Stefan de Vrij is aiming to make his return from injury when the Nerazzurri travel to face Venezia on November 27.

This according to Italian news outlet Gazzetta.it, who report that there is no chance of the Dutchman being ready for the clashes with Napoli or Shakhtar Donetsk immediately after the international break but that the Venzia match has been set as the prospective date for his return.

De Vrij picked up a muscle strain late in the Dutch national team’s World Cup qualifying draw with Montenegro last Saturday, forcing him to leave the pitch in some discomfort.

Initial tests showed that the issue was a strain and that while the injury is not serious it would very likely rule him out for the first two matches back from the break.

This has been confirmed, and the 29-year-old continues to work towards his recovery, with the Venezia match a probable goal for him to be fit for.
