Inter forward Alexis Sanchez’s fitness for Sunday’s Serie A clash with Napoli is a doubt after he suffered a thigh strain during the Chiliean national team’s World Cup qualifier against Ecuador.

This according to Italian news outlet FCInterNews, who report that the injury that the Chilean picked up midway through the first half of the qualifying clash could rule him out of the Partenopei match.

Sanchez went down holding his knee following a heavy challenge just after the half-hour mark of the Roja’s 2-0 defeat at the hands of Ecuador.

The Chilean had to come off the pitch in discomfort, but once he got to the bench he started applying ice to his thigh.

The forward looks to have picked up a thigh strain, although it remains to be seen whether or not it will be serious enough to cause him to miss matches and what his recovery time will be.
