Inter-owned Basel striker Sebastiano Espositio is still aiming for a return to Serie A at some point in his career.

Speaking to Italian news outlet TuttoMercatoWeb, the 19-year-old spoke of his ambition to eventually prove himself in the Italian top flight, in the country where he was born.

Esposito has been impressing on loan in Switzerland, having shown maturity as well as prowess in front of goal, and the choice of Basel as a loan destination appears to have been a helpful one for his development.

However, the young striker still feels that he can prove himself in Italy and would like a return to Serie A at some point.

Esposito had not managed to play a significant role when he broke into the Nerazzurri first team under Antonio Conte, but he showed signs of promise and his development in Serie A and now in the Swiss top flight suggests that he could eventually come back to Italy.

“It makes sense that playing in Serie A is always my dream,” he said. “Coming back is a goal for me, it’s my country.”

The 19-year-old went on that “I hope Inter can win the Scudetto, right now they are doing well, they have the same points total as last year. And they will fight to win, as always.”

Esposito also spoke of former coach Antonio Conte, stating that “He is demanding and he can be decisive. His CV speaks for itself. He is a phenomenon.”
