Ex-Catania Defender Nicolas Spolli: “Third- Goalkeeper Alex Cordaz A Good Locker Room Presence At Inter”

Former Catania defender Nicolas Spolli believes that Inter’s third-choice goalkeeper Alex Cordaz is a very positive influence behind the scenes at the club.

Speaking to Italian broadcaster TMW Radio, Spolli hailed the 38-year-old’s leadership and experience, and suggested that he is a positive presence with the rest of the squad.

Cordaz left Crotone over the summer, having been the captain and a regular starter for the Calabrian club, but he will have never expected to start many matches for the Nerazzurri.

And so it has proved thus far, with captain Samir Handanovic unchallenged as the first-choice option in net and Andrei Radu also ahead of Cordaz in the pecking order.

However, the 38-year-old came back to his boyhood club to act as a figurehead as much as anything, and Spolli believes that his former Catania teammate is doing exactly that and helping to hold the team together.

He explained that “[Cordaz] is still hungry and ready to play, but he has understood his role within the team. He is a locker room man.”
