Sassuolo CEO Giovanni Carnevali has confirmed that Inter are one of the clubs with the keenest interest in midfielder Davide Frattesi and striker Gianluca Scamacca.

Speaking to Italian broadcaster DAZN ahead of the Nerazzurri’s 2-0 loss to the Neroverdi, the executive explained that Inter CEO Beppe Marotta has inquired about the duo already.

The qualities of Scamacca were on full display at the San Siro as the striker had a good game to keep his team on the front foot in his duel with Stefan de Vrij and then controlled numerous long balls in the second to give them breathing room.

The 23-year-old was rewarded for his efforts with a goal, while teammate Davide Frattesi also put in a typically energetic display to help his team in the midfield battle.

Both young players have been linked as transfer targets for Inter during the summer window, and Carnevali acknowledged that the Nerazzurri have made contact about them already.

“I often speak with [Inter CEO Marotta] because we share a good friendship,” he said. “They were among the first to inquire about Frattesi and Scamacca, who are two exciting young players.”

“I think that at the moment the main thing is that they’re doing very well for Sassuolo, and then we’ll see what happens,” he added, “there’s still a long way to go.”

“The most important thing is that they keep growing like this,” Carnevali stressed, “and I’m convinced we’ll continue to be happy with them.”
