Former Inter, Lazio, and Atletico Madird striker Christian Vieri believes that Sassuolo striker Gianluca Scamacca already has the necessary qualities to make the step up to a top club.

Speaking to Italian news outlet FootballNews24.it, Vieri praised the maturity and ability of the reported Nerazzurri target, and also named former Inter and current PSG player Achraf Hakimi as the top right-back in world football.

Scamacca has always been well-regarded within Italian football, but as more of a prospect rather than a genuine top player.

That has changed this season, with the 23-year-old returning to his parent club Sassuolo and looking like one of the most accomplished young strikers in the league.

Inter as well as a number of other top clubs in and out of Serie A are interested in Scamacca, though the Nerazzurri look to be the closest to signing him, and in the view of Vieri he has shown that he is ready for that kind of move.

Asked who he’d see as his own successor, Vieri said that “There’s no otherBobo Vieri, but there are young strikers who will slowly grow. I really like Scamacca, he’s ready for the top level right now.”

He added that “For me, [AC Milan’s] Theo Hernandez is the best left-back in the world right now, and Hakimi is the best on the right.”
