Inter rode their luck at times but were able to triumph over Juventus at the Allianz Stadium for the first time in over eight years.

A twice taken penalty from Hakan Calhanoglu allowed the Nerazzuri to register just their second win in their last seven Serie A fixtures.

Here is what we learned from a controversial and high octane evening in Turin.

1) Finally Inter Get Lucky

Despite Inter recently playing rather poorly they’ve also been hugely devoid of any luck.

Sure they’ve looked disjointed and lacklustre in all aspects of their play but they haven’t had the real bounce of the ball.

So it was pleasant to see Inter get given a rather fortuitous penalty, especially against Juventus, who were given a similar penalty in the reverse fixture.

Hopefully Inter can gain some belief and hope from that slice of luck and carry it into two much more winnable fixtures in their next two matches.

2) Robin Gosens Needs To Be Starting

This may seem harsh given Ivan Perisic has had a fantastic season but Inter are blessed with arguably the best left sided wing back in Italy and he is being wasted on the bench.

Perisic was up against his kryptonite in the form of Juan Cuadrado which demonstrated his frailties and added further to the argument that Inter’s brutal recent schedule has took its toll on the Croatian’s form.

Gosens could go some way to contributing to what is currently a floundering attack and also provided pace up and down the flank that Perisic is lacking.

Gosens has had his bedding in period and he is now fully fit so get him playing Simone.

3) Edin Dzeko Playing Longer Than Lautaro Martinez Again?!

Sure the yellow card here has an impact but this is now a common occurrence.

From open play and when a side needs a goal surely it makes more sense to play Lautaro for longer than Dzeko?

Sure Dzeko could be a poacher but Inter are really struggling to create so it would make a lot more sense to play Martinez for longer in the hope that he can create something out of nothing.

Lautaro Martinez needs to be playing more in this writer’s opinion to allow him to be more impactful and continue his learning journey.

An ageing by the day Bosnian needs to be rested more out of the two.

4) Skriniar – The Great Wall Of Milan

Milan Skriniar was colossal on Sunday evening.

The Slovenian wall was simply imperious against Dusan Vlahovic who he defended in the most old school way possible.

Using his physicality as well as guile, the ex Sampdoria man showed his brilliant best just when the Nerazzuri needed him most.

Future captain? Quite possibly.

5) Simone Inzaghi Gets Out Of Jail – Now Time To Capitalise

Had Lady Luck not shone on Simone Inzaghi last night, we could be discussing Inter officially being out of the title race and staring down the barrel of Juventus.

His rather perplexing substitutions were paper over and his in ability to counter a press were made up for with some steely defending.

However the game is over and it’s now looking ahead that matters. Inter must now look ahead to what looks to be a rather kind run in compared with their rivals.

With only Roma left to play of sides in the top 10 after they’ve dealt with Hellas at the weekend, Inter take momentum into these games to make up for their shoddy recent run which has seen them become the chasers rather than the chased.

A plucky and resilient win now needs following up with emphatic intent. Title race is back on.
