AC Milan defender Fiyako Tomori believes that the Rossoneri are still right in the race for the Serie A title although he is mindful of the game in hand that Inter have in their back pocket.

Speaking to Italian broadcaster DAZN after his team’s 2-0 win over Genoa yesterday, the Englishman spoke about believing that his team can win it even though they’re aware that their fate is not in their hands.

The Rossoneri got back on track with a composed display to take three points from their clash with Genoa, their first win since the return from the international break.

Milan had gone into the break in full control of their own destinies in the title race, but goalless draws against Bologna and then Torino have meant that this is no longer the case.

As of yesterday’s results, the Rossoneri are still top of the table, but Inter have a game in hand against Bologna to play, so if the Nerazzurri are to win that match then they can be at the top.

“In my view we must focus only on ourselves, on our games,” Tomori said. “We are first and we know that Inter have a game in hand, but we must continue to play for it and believe in it.”
