Roma coach Jose Mourinho makes no secret of the fact that he still carries Inter in his heart even though he’s fully committed to the Giallorossi now.
Speaking in a press conference after his current team lost 3-1 to his former side in Serie A, as reported by FCInterNews, the Portuguese coach wished the Nerazzurri the best of luck in the title race.
Mourinho won the Scudetto twice with Inter in addition to taking home an historic European treble in his second season in charge, but he will not win the title in his first season in the Italian capital.
However, the Nerazzurri have the chance to do so this season, now coached by Simone Inzaghi, and if a team other than the one he’s coaching is to win it all this time around Mourinho would be glad if it’s the Nerazzurri.
The Portuguese coach was clear that his only commitment is succeeding with Roma, but acknowledged the connection that he has with Inter.
Asked whether he wanted to lose to help his old team’s title pursuit, Mourinho responded “No, that’s not true. I love Inter and Inter love me, but I want to win all our games.”
“Now I can say, given that we’re no longer playing against Inter, Juve, or Napoli, that I would like Inter to win the title.”
“But today I tried to forget where I was playing,” he added. “I love Roma and I love my job, we are paid to win.”
