Former AC Milan striker Alberto Gilardino has said that beating any team is difficult at this stage of the Serie A campaign, according to a report in the Italian print media.

Speaking during an interview with La Gazzetta dello Sport, Alberto Gilardino explained that there is no such thing as an easy game when you get to the last three games of the season.

AC Milan have the harder fixtures on paper as they must go away to Hellas Verona, face Atalanta at home and then also face Sassuolo. Inter just have to play Empoli, Cagliari and Sampdoria, three teams in the bottom five of the table.

“The match against Verona on Sunday is the most difficult for Pioli, although Atalanta, who will then come to the San Siro, should not be underestimated. Inter can find difficulties in Cagliari. But in the last three it’s difficult to win anywhere and against anyone”.

Alberto Gilardino stressed though that his former team are still the favourites to win the title because they have the all-important two-point lead over their rivals.

“With two points more than Inter, Milan are still the favourites: at this point in the season, it’s an advantage that can be decisive.”

As for the key players in each team, he picked out Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Edin Dzeko, clearly favouring the veteran strikers.

“I hope Ibrahimovic will be the man of the grand finale for Milan, even more so if he decides to quit: the Scudetto would be the crowning achievement of his great career. On the other side I say Dzeko, always decisive.”
