Inter President Steven Zhang has given the green light to the club to make a deal to sign Paulo Dybala from Juventus on a free transfer this summer.
This according to today’s print edition of Turin-based newspaper Tuttosport, who report that the President will sanction the move for Dybala even in spite of the dictate to reduce the wage bill during the transfer window.
The financial objectives at Inter over the summer are no secret, with one of the key targets being a reduction of the wage bill by 15-20%, or around €20 million.
Given this, the signing of Dybala could be difficult to accommodate, given that even on a free transfer the 28-year-old will command significant wages.
However, Zhang sees the value of bringing Dybala in, and is ready to trust CEO Beppe Marotta and Sporting Director Piero Ausilio to find ways to trim down the wage bill even after the significant addition of Dybala’s salary.
