Inter survived a serious scare against Empoli to keep the pressure on their city rivals Milan in the race for the Scudetto.

Two early goals from the visitors had San Siro shocked into a stunned silence before the Nerazzuri arose from their slumber and came back to win 4-2.

A vital three points keeps Inter in the frame even if Milan seem as if they’re managing to knock back every obstacle.

Here’s what we learned from Inter this week.

1) Andrea Pinamonti Worth Keeping Around Next Season?

Andrea Pinamonti was given little to no opportunity to show himself last year under Antonio Conte.

Granted Inter won the league but he was then soon shipped out to Empoli ahead of this term.

Over a dozen goals in league action for a rather average side appears a decent return and he is still just 22.

All this talk of big money for Gianluca Scamacca when Andrea Pinamonti is right here?

Worth a look into surely?

2) Determined Denzel

A tough time adapting and then a tail off in form post February either side of some dominant displays, it has been something of a challenge for Denzel Dumfries this year.

The big Dutchman however showed his brutish best on Friday in the way he went about his business.

In a first half where Inter were severely flagging at 2-0 down, the former PSV man rolled up his sleeves and battled.

His tenacity seemed to rub off on his teammates who rose to his level and completed a giant turn around.

Never dismiss Denzel.

3) Lautaro Martinez Silencing The Critics

Goals 18 and 19 in Serie A were notched by Martinez on Friday and they were both equally as vital.

Where many lambasted him a few months back due to a shocking goal drought, he now seems to have converted and silenced a number of his critics.

His recent run has seen him score all types of goals and has many Nerazzuri fans debating on building around him for the future rather than cashing in on him.

His performance in the Coppa semi final seems to have lifted his confidence severely which is great to see.

4) A Striker Must Be Signed In The Summer

Joaquin Correa once again disappointed and Edin Dzeko once again proved he isn’t a future option in Inter’s attack.

A deal for Romelu Lukaku’s return must be explored even if it turns out to be financially unviable.

Lautaro Martinez has been carrying Inter’s burden the last few weeks and has responded with aplomb but if Inter do infancy fall short, questions will be asked of their decision to replace Lukaku with Correa and Dzeko.

Sure finance will dictate as it did last summer but Inter need more threat to finish off the chances they create or they risk falling short again next year. Easy to say but Lukaku would’ve won Inter the Scudetto already had he still be at San Siro.

5) Relying On Other Teams Is Futile

Relying on Milan to drop points when every slice of luck in terms of late goals, bounce of the ball and defensive mistakes made by the opposition are heading their way seems pointless.

Inter have only themselves to blame for drawing with the likes of Genoa and Torino and losing at home to Sassuolo and probably most of all the derby loss after being 1-0 up.

That mad month has destroyed their season.

Inter at their best are the strongest and best team in the league but right now through their own acts of self sabotage look destined for silver.

Win all their games and rely on luck turning.

Forza Inter until the last.
