Italian journalist Fabrizio Biasin believes that Inter will agree a contract extension with Ivan Perisic in the end, though he is not sure whether the 33-year-old would be worth a big money new deal.

Speaking to the Twitch channel of Calciomercato.it, as reported by FCInter1908, Biasin gave his thoughts on the Croat’s future amid uncertainty and reports that he could leave the Nerazzurri at the end of his current deal.

Perisic has been one of Inter’s outstanding players this season, and indeed one of the top performers in all of Serie A for much of the campaign.

The club have been making a push to convince the 33-year-old on a contract extension, but the sticking point looks to be the player’s wage demands which the club are not willing to match.

The Nerazzurri are keen to keep Perisic on, but offering him a big money new contract would not necessarily be in line with the policy they are pursuing of reducing their wage bill in view of meeting important financial targets.

Biasin said that “In my opinion Perisic stays at Inter in the end. I wouldn’t renew him at €6 million net per season, for me the offer made by Inter is the highest they can go for a 33-year-old.”

“€4.5 million net per season for two years is the maximum,” he continued, “I think going beyond that would be a mistake. If he doesn’t renew, Inter have Gosens.”
